WELCOME TO RuskA
Asuntohotelli Ruska is an accommodation facility in the center of Taivalkoski that offers overnight and breakfast services. We have been operating since 1986 and have been able to serve guests from all over the world along the way.
It is easy for us to come and rest on the way to Lapland or to stay longer.
There are great nature trails in the surroundings and the Ii river is a stone's throw away. There are also fast connections to Ruka, Syöte and Posio from here. We are located in the center of four national parks. From us you can easily get to Hossa, Oulanga, Syöte and Riisitunturi to enjoy nature.

ACCOMMODATION & SERVICES

Rooms
Our clean and cosy rooms ensure a good night’s sleep. You can select your room from various options: we have rooms for one, two, three, four or five guests.
Bed linen is included in the price.
BREAKFAST & DINING
We serve a delicious and generous breakfast that includes fresh berries, vegetables, bread, cold meats and slow-cooked porridge to give an energetic start to your day.
SAUNA
Relax in the sauna after your journey or a day out – the sauna will be heated at your request. We have two saunas available for guests.
OTHER FACILITIES
There is a barbecue hut and a sitting area in the courtyard area. The common areas of the apartment hotel have a self-service kitchen for independent food preparation. A drying room and a ski maintenance room are also available.
We also rent cottages with stunning views of Lake Kostonjärvi.

SIGHTS AND ACTIVITIES
JALAVA SHOP
The 137-year old Jalavan Kauppa ja Pirttikahvila shop and café serve locals and visitors all year round. Experience a genuine old-world atmosphere and listen to stories from years gone by. Read more.
TAIVALVAARA SPRTS CENTRE
The sheltered slopes and terrains of Taivalvaara provide excellent facilities for ski jumpers, cross-country and downhill skiers and snowboarders. The snow conditions are good throughout the winter, from early November to late April. More information.
CANOEING AND KAYAKING CENTRE
The canoeing and kayaking centre in Taivalkoski offers their services to those interested in whitewater canoeing as well as those who prefer a more relaxed and peaceful experience. We offer rental equipment, organise courses, and provide both private classes and guided tours.

PÄÄTALO CENTRE
The Kalle Päätalo exhibition at the centre contains a replica of the author’s study and a changing exhibition with photographs and a variety of articles. Both the exhibition and Kalle Päätalo’s books portray the life of local people and the Finnish everyday in recent history in a lively manner. More information (in Finnish).
RUKA SPORTS CENTRE
Ruka offers a versatile range of opportunities for outdoor adventures all year round. Ruka is one of the most popular winter sports resorts in Finland, and the national parks in Kuusamo also attract the visitors to enjoy nature in and around Ruka. Read more and visit us!
ISO-SYÖTE
The southernmost fell in Finland, Iso-Syöte is famous for its range of slopes and snowy winter landscapes. The summer and autumn are no less impressive in Iso-Syöte and the surrounding regions, where you can enjoy breathtaking landscapes and the changing seasons. The biking trails in Iso-Syöte and Syöte National Park are famous for their versatility and wonderful sceneries.
The river II
The River Ii is the sixth largest river system in Finland. Its 370-km long main channel winds through Taivalkoski on its way towards the Bothnian Bay. The river is famous for being rich in fish. Click here for more information (in Finnish).
